Story Talisman

Since the formation of human-kind power objects have been used to ground and focus, to allow the centring of thought, the centring of being. You may already have power objects in your life. An heirloom piece of jewellery. A favourite jumper. A beautiful piece of art that reminds you of a treasured time, person, or place. Physical reminders of where you have come from, where you have been, where you are going, objects that comfort, encourage, and bolster your self-belief.

My work exists at the intersection of stories and objects. The stories we hold within us are powerful and reinforce our self-beliefs, whether those be beneficial to us or not. Our connection to the objects we surround ourselves with is their ability as carriers to those stories, as a physical marker to which we can return to reinforce who we are.

If objects that hold stories for us, through their connection to our ancestry and our herstories, what happens when we reverse that flow? What can we unlock when we look to what our spirit needs and we create objects that embody the stories we wish to seed, cultivate, and grow?

A Story Talisman

is an offering of support through sacred space & craft. We will gather in conversation to unravel what you want to capture, what question you need to be held. Inspired and led by that conversation, I will craft a bespoke talisman for you, to mark your journey so far and signpost towards your future path.

As a trained Sister Stories facilitator I will hold space for you to delve into your question. Through the sharing of our stories as women, we will sift through to find the heart of our exploration. Those conversations, the themes, and the essence they uncover will be woven through the creation of your talisman.

The talisman may be a ceramic vessel, an altar cloth, or a print. Or it may be a piece that combines several materials to create something unique.

You will receive:

2 x 1 hour calls to explore your question and for me to understand the role that your talisman will play. Recordings of the calls will be emailed to you so that you can listen back to your own heart speaking.
A Story Talisman crafted especially for you, with my hands to your heart, wrapped in cloth and love.
A handwritten missive including an introduction to your Sacred Talisman, with suggestions for deepening your connection to it, and a tarot or oracle card reading.

Your object will be a response to our conversation, to the question you bring, and ultimately a talisman for your self enquiry. The invitation is to form a relationship with the object created for you, to allow it to uncover some healing that you are asking for. It will be a place to return to and ground yourself.

Process

In our exploratory call, we will delve into your story, and what part of you is asking to be tended. We will talk about objects that you already own and why they are important to you. We will start to form the scope of your question or enquiry.

I will then take what we have discussed and feel into what form your talisman might take; its textures, colours, and essence. You can choose to be involved in this process, and I will share inspiration images and work in progress. Or you can choose to allow the form of the talisman to be entirely a surprise.
Following my initial exploration on your behalf, we will talk again, and explore some further questions that have come up through my process. This is a deepening of the inquiry, to allow the object to be responding to the heart of your question.
I will then go into making your piece. Again you can choose to have teasers sent to you, or not, whichever feels good.
When it’s ready, finally, I will send you your Story Talisman.

Sometimes the answers that we get are confronting. We know it is the medicine we need, but we still resist it. Thus I ask that you sit with your object (literally or metaphorically) for a couple of weeks to allow the essence of it to land fully.

Overall the whole process will take 4 - 6 weeks to deliver, depending on the complexity of the piece and the processes. Two instalment payment plans are available.
